Hm, he probably died in the battle on the Wisłoka river near Jasło in december 1914.
Interesting list for our GSR2 fans is here:

Franc Dobnik died 15.12.1914. Nowy Żmigród near 15 km from Jasło on the Wisłoka river.
I have not been able to find any biographical information about him whatsoever, except that he already was an active officer of the k.u.k. Army and served with Landwehrinfanterieregiment Nr. 27 in Laibach (Ljubljana). I have also not find his name listed in the Ehrenhalle der k.k. Landwehr, des k.k. Landsturmes und der k.k. Gendarmerie 1914-1917.
I have found Franz DOBRILA, Jakob DOBRIN, Johann DOBRIN, Leopold DOBRINGER, Friedrich DOKL, Viktor DOLENZ etc. But no Dobnik, I am afraid.

Von Otton!
Some time ago I found picture and short notice in newspaper about Hauptmann Dobnik Franc from LIR 27. Ilustrirani Glasnik, št. 21, str. 251:
Here is a short version of notice:
"Hauptmann Dobnik led his battalion in attack on Russians on December 14, 1914, in early morning. He was about 20 steps away from enemy when he was shot to paunch.
Next day he was transported to town but on a way there he died. Hauptmann Dobnik was buried with all military dignities within presence of colonel.
At soldiers he was very popular. Captain's servant got order to transport captain's horse to Gorica, where captain's widow with two children lives. " May a God reassuer her and orphans!"
Best regards,
Svejk
