Great-grandfather Vojščica May 1917

Hello,
My great-grandfather from Slovakia died east of Vojščica in May 1917. I would love to know more about the battle, find some photos or any information, since I know no more than whats in the picture. Anybody, anything please?

Your grandfather died ( regarding of the date of death) in the middle of 10th Isonzo battle ( 12.5.- 5.6.1917), where the Austrian forces in the beginning of the battle were forced to retreat on Karst plateau. Can you translate the name of the Regiment, since it is in slovak language? That could be helpfull.

With the help of Miha from the Walk of Peace Foundation, we found some additional information. We hope they will help you. Babics Johann was a member of the Festungs Artillerie Regiment N.2, 30.5 cm Mörser Batterie Nr.4.
The position of his gun is marked on this map from 10.5.1917.

His grave is in the vilage Sveto (Suta). After the Italian rearrangement of the cemetery in the years after the war, the grave received no.347 and was in the 1st row. Now, however, sigular graves cannot be seen.

Hello, I havent been here for a while.
It is Fortress artillery regiment and he was an officers servant.
Thank you very much for all additional information, I highly appreciate everything, because me and my living family know nothinf about him.

How do you know the position of his gun please??

The position of his gun was marked on 10.5.1917 on military map. On these map was marked all artillery positions in that area.
